Kulwant Singh Virk: A Monograph History of Punjabi Literature for 'Encyclopedia of Indian Literature'. In 1975, compiled and edited the first-ever DIRECTORY OF INDIAN WOMEN. Commissioned by Smt. Indira Gandhi. It contained bio-datas of 6000 women achievers in different professions. UNESCO declared it the 'Most Comprehensive Document of Women Achievers of a country anywhere in the world'. EDITED AND COMPILED: Kulwant Singh Virk's short stories with a well-researched Preface. 6. Founder and President of FOUNDATION OF SAARC WRITERS AND LITERATURE (FOSWAL), the first Cultural and Literary Initiative in the SAARC region. Launched in 1986, with the first-ever Conference of Indian and Pakistani Writers in New Delhi, FOSWAL is the first cultural and literary organisation to be honoured as a SAARC BODY (in 2001). In 2007, it was elevated to SAARC APEX BODY status. It is now the cultural wing of SAARC Secretariat and is authorised to work under the official SAARC Banner and SAARC LOGO. The Foundation organises writers' and intellectuals' interactions, Conferences and interactions with Universities in the SAARC region. Festivals of SAARC Literature, Festivals of SAARC Folklore and Heritage, Festivals of SAARC Poetry, Conferences and Festivals of Sufism, of Buddhism : civilisational links in the SAARC Region. Has launched the first-ever 'CENTRE OF SAARC LITERARY AND FOLKLORE STUDIES'. Founder Member of 'SAHR': 'SOUTH ASIANS FOR HUMAN RIGHTS'. उल्लेखनीय सूचनाएँ:
इनकी आत्मकथा खानाबदोश का कई देशी-विदेशी भाषआओं में अनुवाद हुआ है। वे अब भी स्वयं को खानाबदोश ही मानती हैं। अंगरेजी में इनकी कहानियों का संग्रह डेड एंड चर्चित रहा है। इनकी कुछ प्रमुख रचनाएँ जैसे- पोस्टमार्टम, खानाबदोश, गौरी, कसाइबाड़ा, कूड़ा-कबाड़ा और काले कुएँ हिंदी अनुवाद में भी उपलब्ध है। इनकी सात किताबें पाकिस्तान में प्रकाशित हुई है। ना मारो पर टीवी धारावाहिक बना है। गुलबानो, चौखट और मामी पर टेली फिल्म बनी है।
